Questions

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Dia Control is free.

What do I need?

A Mac with macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon or Intel, and Dia. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.

How does it pick a profile?

Rules are checked from the top down and the first one that matches wins. A rule can match a domain and its subdomains, one exact host, or a URL path.

What about links I click inside Dia?

Your default browser only receives links from other apps. For links inside Dia, the optional extension adds Route with Dia Control to the right-click menu.

Will I end up with lots of tabs?

No. When a link's page is already open in its profile, Dia Control switches to that tab instead of opening a new one.

Does it see my browsing?

No. It only handles the links you click in other apps, and keeps your rules on your Mac. It goes online for three things: each rule's site icon, following a tracking link (like a link in an email) to find the real page, and a daily check for updates.

Does it work with Velja?

Yes. Keep Velja as your default browser and choose Dia Control as its browser. Velja's rules run first, then Dia Control picks the Dia profile.

How do updates work?

Dia Control checks once a day. When there's a new version it shows Install update; one click downloads it, checks it's signed by the same developer and restarts the app.

How do I stop using it?

Choose Dia as your default browser in System Settings, then quit Dia Control from its menu bar icon.

Is it made by The Browser Company?

No. It's an independent app and not affiliated with The Browser Company.
