Permissions Claire requests

Last updated: June 4, 2026

Claire requests the minimum Google permissions needed to be a useful email client. Here's each one, in plain English, and exactly what Claire uses it for. You can review or revoke these anytime in your Google Account.

Read, organize, and send your Gmail

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify

The core of an email client: display your messages, mark them read/unread, label, archive, move to trash, and compose and send mail. Claire does not request permission to permanently delete messages — items go to Trash (which Gmail empties after 30 days), never bypassing it.

See your calendar (read-only)

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly

Shows your upcoming events on the Today screen and next to your mail. Read-only — Claire cannot create, edit, or delete events.

See your contacts (read-only)

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts.readonly

Autocompletes recipients when you compose, so you don't retype addresses. Read-only — Claire cannot modify your contacts.

Your basic profile

userinfo.email · userinfo.profile

Identifies which account you're signed into and shows your name/avatar in the app. No other use.

How Claire handles the data these permissions grant is described in our Privacy Policy. Claire's use of Google user data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use.
